Ocean City firefighters extinguished a blaze that broke out Tuesday afternoon on the top floor deck of a house on the 1100 block of Ocean Avenue.
A search of the house revealed that no one was inside. No firefighters or civilians were injured, the fire department said in a news release.
The fire was called in at 12:30 p.m. Ocean City police officers and firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the top floor deck when they responded to the scene.
Firefighters sprayed water on the fire to contain it to the top floor deck and bring it under control at 12:54 p.m., according to the release.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Ocean City Fire Department, Ocean City Police Department, the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office and the New Jersey State Fire Marshal’s Office.
